My children once loved to say ‘Someone needs to…’ and I kindly reply ‘YOU are Someone’. Okay, they still say it…this was just last week.
No matter if the need was to turn off a light, pick something off the floor, close a door – they are the someone who can do it.
Looking at this on a larger scale brings to mind how so many of us sit around waiting for Someone to do what we can do. We are all Someone.
We are responsible, capable, able, and sometimes willing Someones. We cannot continue to allow the Someone sentiment to keep us from doing things, taking action, participating. Our families are crumbling, children are raising themselves, relationships are dying. Be Someone and change it.
Your actions could be the positive impact needed. It could spark others into doing instead of leaving it for Someone.
The next time ‘Someone needs to’ is on your mind, tongue, or lips change it into ‘What can I do’ and remember this classic poem…
This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
